Hello, my name is Paula and I’m from Germany. I moved to Paris two months ago because I’m doing a volunteering service in a retirement home for one year. Since I was a little child, I loved animals and always wanted to become an Animal Rights Activist. I grew up with cats, so learned how to take care of them and to respect them. We even raised newborn kittens at one point. I know what their needing and how to make sure everything is ok with the cats.
Furthermore, I took care of my friend’s and my neighbor‘s dog when they were going on holidays. One of them was a puppy so I know how to be strict if it’s necessary. The other dog was a Saint Bernard Mix who had a strong pull on the leash. Since I go walking every day, it‘s no problem for me to take dogs on long walks, even when it’s not the best weather.
I can go for a walk with dogs four times per day for about 30 to 60 minutes on working days and on my days off I’m available all the time so I can go for even longer walks. I’m living with two other volunteers who both adore animals in a house so even if I have to work (I have a lot of breaks in between where I can look for the animal) there is at least one of us at home so the animal is never alone.
Since I’m volunteering in a retirement home right next to my house, it’s no problem for me to check on the animal every hour and I have three bigger breaks during the day. I don’t have a fixed schedule but I work 3-4 days per week. The animals are allowed to sleep in my bedroom or if there are problems in a separated room.
I have a big garden which is fully fenced. I love to adopt a dog but since I’m still a student, it would be irresponsible to have one at the moment so thank you for this opportunity for me to be around animals.
Une excellente expérience avec Paula! J’ai retrouvé Brontë ravi et enchanté de son séjour ! Merci beaucoup !
