I am Indian and an international student here. Since you are an owner, therefore you can trust to what I'm going to tell you now- I miss my cats (my babies) even more than I miss my parents. I am so emotional and empathetic towards animals. 
Everybody has different aims after earning much but my aim is to help animal NGOs and do something for stray animals.It won't be a lie to say that it's in my genes. My mother who is a teacher and owns full responsibilities of household chores as well. No matter how tired she is, she cooks extra food for stray dogs. And as a pet owner, she says that the two cats are more beloved to her than her own kids. 
I love animals. I am 26 and in this lifetime I have had 1 dog - who was very very loved by all of us. When he died, we did not eat for days. 
Then we have 2 cats now, I can't imagine my life without them. I call my parents daily and everytime I ask about my babies - my cars, my life.
